Day 15 - Mekong Delta Day 2

We got up at 5.30 to see the sunrise which was at its best at 5.40.  As it got light there was no sign of any wildlife waking up, just hens and a few swifts and swallow.

As breakfast was served some Egrets appeared on floating vegetation getting a free ride.

Our first excursion of the day was to the home of a family of musicians who live on the rivers edge.  They gave us fruit and tea and entertained us with their traditional folk songs.  We then walked through a fruit growing area to a pagoda and back before having a ride in a traditional sanpan rowed by mainly women.  We were taken to Cai Lay town to see how rice is used to make toffee, poprice, rice wine and rice paper.

Late afternoon we docked at Sa Dec, a large town with a fresh food market for local people.  It was manic and like everywhere else, full of mopeds and motorcycles.  We walked through the fruit and vegetable section, then through the meat and fish section.
